We are seeking an enthusiastic, collaborative and commercially-savvy Finance Business Partner to join a fantastic employee-owned business in Warrington. The business has grown from strength to strength over recent years and this newly created role is part of the ongoing progression and expansion.

About the role

This is initially a part time role to suit someone returning to work or wishing to have flexibility, likely to finish at c. 2:30-3:30pm each afternoon.

This pivotal role involves providing strategic financial insight and support to drive business performance and decision-making within group operations.

The successful candidate will bridge the gap between finance and operational teams as the group continues to grow, driven by an ambitious, entrepreneurial leadership team.

Key responsibilities...

Financial Strategy, Planning and Analysis:

  • Develop and implement financial strategies to support business objectives.
  • Lead the financial planning, budgeting and forecasting processes for the group.
  • Provide financial analysis and insights to inform strategic decision-making.

Business Partnering:

  • Act as a trusted advisor and critical friend to senior management and operational teams.
  • Deliver robust financial support for business projects, investments, and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive financial performance and operational efficiency.

Business Performance Management:

  • Monitor and report on financial performance against targets
  • Identify areas for improvement and recommend corrective actions.
  • Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress and outcomes.

Risk Management:

  • Assess group-wide (and business-specific) financial risks and opportunities.
  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and policies, in conjunction with external accountants (e.g. CIS).

Leadership and Management:

  • Lead and mentor the existing transactions finance team (2 people).
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development within the finance team and wider business.
  • Promote best practices in financial management.

Financial Reporting, Tax and Regulatory:

  • Preparation and presentation of monthly board reporting (to include management accounts)
  • Manage relationship with external accountants who provide services including preparation of financial accounts, tax and payroll.
  • Review existing use of finance software packages to ensure they are fit-for-purpose and support business processes effectively.

Person profile

  • ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in a FBP role or similar, preferably within the utilities, construction or infrastructure sectors.
  • Strong financial and business acumen
  • Strategic thinking
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to influence and build relationships at all levels, to both support and challenge the business.
  • Advanced proficiency in financial modelling and analysis.
  • Familiarity with financial software and ERP systems.
