System Test Engineer

GTS are looking to recruit a System Test Engineer for our client who are at the forefront of their industry, developing cutting-edge electronic products that meet the highest standards of quality and performance. We are seeking a Systems Test Engineer to join their dynamic Engineering department. This role offers the opportunity to work on groundbreaking projects and contribute to the future of their technology.

Role Purpose:

The Systems Test Engineer will be responsible for building, maintaining, creating, and executing manual and automated system tests. The role involves close collaboration with developers, project managers, and other stakeholders throughout the testing and development cycle.

Key Responsibilities of the System Test Engineer:

  • Conduct system testing of products, focusing on functionality, usability, performance, and stability.
  • Develop effective and relevant test plans by studying specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
  • Perform exploratory and candidate release testing.
  • Investigate, reproduce, log, and update issues.
  • Organize and conduct trials at our trial facility.
  • Provide technical expertise and training to customers both onshore and offshore, including hands-on training, demos, and trialing new systems.
  • Share out-of-hours engineering specialist support duties on a rota basis.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Ocean Science/Exploration/Engineering/Technical/Mathematics/Science disciplines.
  • Software System Testing Qualification (e.g., ISTQB® Certified Tester Foundation Level) is desirable.
  • Valid UK full driving license.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office, especially Excel for data analysis.
  • Basic understanding of various testing methodologies and the software development lifecycle.
  • Experience with lifecycle management software (e.g., Jira).
