Kenton Black Finance are supporting a business based in the Haslingden area who have been operating for over 35 years. The company is poised to accelerate its capabilities, growth, and footprint in new and current markets. They are currently recruiting for a Payroll Manager to work on a full-time and permanent basis. The job will require you to produce an accurate payroll for all employees in line with current legislation and resolve any payroll issues that may arise. The role requires meticulous attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and up-to-date knowledge of payroll, pension laws and regulations.

Your new job as the Payroll Manager:

• Responsibility for the end-to-end processing of payroll for approximately 300 employees on a monthly payroll, ensuring that all employees are paid correctly and on time
• Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll for all employees, including regular pay, overtime, bonuses and other pay items
• Processing payroll amendments including starters, leavers, contract changes, salary changes and tax code changes
• Responsible for maintaining employee attendance records and managing holiday, absence and
overtime payments
• Prepare and submit payroll returns (P60s and P11Ds), ensuring accuracy and timeliness to avoid
penalties
• Advising payment team of all payments required and due dates
• Administering auto enrolment pension scheme including assessment, correspondence and submission of monthly pension contributions
• Conducting regular monitoring checks to ensure any changes are monitored and controlled, and
employees are accurately paid and in line with government regulations
• Maintaining up to date and comprehensive guidance notes on payroll procedures ensuring that these reflect changes to company policy and employment regulations
• Working closely with our payroll software provider regarding system upgrades and developments
• Liaising with payroll providers for approximately 5 overseas employees
• Producing information for Gender Pay Report
• Address any payroll-related enquiries or issues from regulatory agencies
• Assist with month end and year end financial close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting
• Producing information for inclusion in financial reporting and wider payroll reporting
• Support the finance team with ad hoc tasks

Experience and Skills required to apply:

• Experience of managing end-to-end in-house payrolls with up to date knowledge of current regulations affecting employee benefits, deductions and general payroll processes
• Skilled at identifying potential payroll discrepancies and addressing them proactively
• Working knowledge of Advanced Payroll (Mitrefinch and Flexipay) is desirable but not essential
• A proactive approach with experience of identifying and implementing process improvements
• Excellent time management and organisational skills, able to work under own initiative and to tight deadlines
• Flexibility – to work the necessary hours to meet the cyclical demands of the position
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel for spreadsheets, records and reports
• Customer-oriented mindset to provide support to employees and managers with their payroll enquiries and concerns
