Protea Recruitment is working with a food manufacturer based in Edinburgh who is looking for an experienced Engineer to join their team.

Engineer - Site Engineering Supervisor

Salary/Rate £48k to £52k

Location: Edinburgh 

Shift: Day Shift Mon-Fri

The purpose of Engineering Supervisor will be responsible for, providing efficient and effective maintenance to both sites.

Be responsible for the Engineer, and provide Leadership, Supervision, Guidance, and support to the Engineer (regular one to one’s, performance management, development and return to work interviews).   

The Engineering Supervisor will also be responsible for continuous improvement and leading the department towards improving manufacturing efficiencies

Main Activities and Responsibilities

  • Line management of the engineer.
  • Attend meetings and effectively report work progress to the Senior Management Team
  • Day-to-day delivery of maintenance support to both sites
  • Sustainable corrective actions when faults occur
  • Responsible for site PAT testing and Calibration of site equipment
  • Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM’s) tasks for both sites
  • Maintain a stock of spares against PPM’s, building in supplier lead times
  • Update, maintain and replenish critical spares stock
  • Update and maintain asset register
  • Organise and run the shutdown for both site’s
  • Identify ways to increase safety, efficiency, and profitability of the manufacturing process
  • Update and maintain all health and safety documentation such as risk assessments, training records, and training requirements for the Maintenance Department
  • Active member of the Health and Safety Team & Senior Management Team
  • Ensure an escalation process is put in place to always provide Mechanical and Electrical cover
  • Control the activities of required sub-contractors with the Maintenance Shutdown Planner.
  • This should include control of RAMS procedures and permits for work

Qualifications & Experience

  • Recognised Engineering Qualification or completed apprenticeship (ideally electrical bias).
  • Health and safety qualifications or proven experience.
  • Food Safety and Quality Qualification (Desirable)
  • Operational experience, ideally within the food manufacturing industry
  • IT Literate (MS Packages, IT systems).
  • Excellent Attention to detail.
  • Good time management.
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to cope with changing priorities at sometimes short notice
  • Good communication skills.
