We have a fantastic opportunity to join our Education team as an Information Advice Guidance Co-ordinator for Novus, at HMP Onley offered on a permanent, full-time basis working 37 hrs per week.
What the role entails
As IAG Co-ordinator you will be responsible for offering a full Information, Advice and Guidance service to prisoners in custody, including careers guidance, career planning, using guidance tools to help prisoners to identify future job choices and formulate/review skills development plans.
Ensure that prospective and existing clients receive relevant and easily understood information, advice, and guidance regarding resettlement provision in custody and continuing support on release on licence and on Post Sentence Supervision, contribute to a multi-disciplinary approach that seeks to facilitate a smooth transition to the resettlement of the client into the community Train, supervise and quality assure IA service delivered by Prisoner Peer Support Workers
To be successful in the role of Information Advice and Guidance you will be required to.
- Design and deliver Information, Advice and Guidance sessions to prisoners in custody, in groups and 1-1.
- Design and deliver effective Career Plans with prisoners using specialist resources as applicable.
- Support prisoners to review their action plan at significant points in their sentence.
- Deliver IAG qualifications to prisoner peer support workers, in line with Awarding Organisation standards and Novus Quality guidelines.
- Provide supervision for prisoner IAG workforce, ensuring quality of delivery and support for prisoner peer support workers.
- Quality assures action plans produced by IA workers/ prisoner peer support workers, produce and monitor action plans to continuously improve them.
- Deliver employability workshops to groups of prisoners.
- Ensure prisoner records are maintained, reviewed, and updated regularly, in line with contract requirements.
- Contribute to the effective allocation of the client to custodial provision.
- Engage with actual and potential referral agencies including statutory and third sector agencies and where appropriate the community in order to generate referrals for programmes/activities/services as required.
- Provide action plans to other establishments to allow continuity of service through the journey in custody.
- Participate in establishment / lot level meetings as required.
- Participate in continual professional development activities to ensure skills and qualifications are in line with sector best practice and 3rd party requirements.
Qualifications required:
Essential
- To hold or be willing to work towards a level 4 Information, Advice and Guidance qualification within an agreed time scale.
- To hold level 2 qualifications in English and maths
Desirable
- TAQA Assessor (Level 3) or equivalent
- Level 5 teaching qualification or equivalent
