Role Purpose:

We are seeking a Senior Underwriter to play a pivotal part in our underwriting team. This key role involves managing the underwriting process, making high-level lending decisions, ensuring compliance, and mentoring junior team members. You will analyse complex loan applications, assess financials, credit reports, and property appraisals to ensure compliant lending practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a personal pipeline of high-volume, complex loans, ensuring timely and accurate underwriting within SLAs.
  • Make high-level lending decisions and approve large or complex loan requests.
  • Conduct thorough analysis and evaluation of loan applications, including financial documents, credit histories, and property valuations.
  • Collaborate with brokers, borrowers, and other stakeholders to gather necessary information and provide updates.
  • Mentor junior team members to support the team’s goals.
  • Competently underwrite deals by understanding case studies thoroughly.

Role Requirements:

  • Experienced in property finance underwriting or a credit-based role, specifically in bridging or buy-to-let.
  • Experience managing high-volume, complex loans.
  • Strong knowledge of mortgage lending principles, risk assessment, loan products, market trends, and regulatory requirements.
  • Effective communication skills for clear interaction with brokers, borrowers, and stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities to identify and resolve issues in loan applications.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple tasks and adapting to changing priorities.
