Key Responsibilities

  • To communicate with the regulatory offices and serve as an expert within the field of HSE when called upon to address regulatory agency compliance issues and liability of consultants and subcontractor representatives.
  • Working with Senior Managers to identify Health and Safety training requirements for employees and coordinate training programs which will increase efficiency of safe practices and promote a positive HSE culture.
  • Lead on COSHH Assessment, Safety Assessment and Risk Assessment activities on site, including HAZID, HAZOP, where required.
  • Provide support in identifying and preparing waste streams for safe disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous materials.
  • Lead on incident investigations and provided detailed reports including lessons learned and corrective actions.
  • Work with the Group HSE Manager, Site MD and Site HSE Manager to foster a strong safety culture by promoting employee engagement, feedback, and participation in safety initiatives.
  • Represent the HSE department in various meetings, including deputising for the HSE Manager in times of absence.
  • Ensure that safety inspections and audits are carried out, fire drills and fire alarms are correctly reported, risk assessments are managed, and employees are aware of their responsibilities.
  • Contribute to the preparation of HSE statistics, including regular health and safety reports for senior management and regulatory authorities.
  • Work with the site HSE Manager to manage pyrotechnic and explosives waste streams on site, ensuring correct disposal via appropriate waste disposal operations.

Key Requirements?

  • NEBOSH Certificate as a minimum requirement.
  • Experience working within a manufacturing, chemical or high hazard working environment.
  • Candidates with Explosives or Pyrotechnics military experience are encouraged to apply.
  • Working experience of HSE and COMAH regulations including 18001, 14001 or 45001 standards.
  • Strong influencer who can effectively communicate at all levels of the organisation.
  • Able to undertake Safety and Risk Assessment activities including HAZID, HAZOP and COSHH assessments with minimal supervision.
