Progress Teachers are working with a local mainstream secondary school to appoint an experienced and dedicated Learning Support Assistant (LSA). The successful candidate will support the academic and social development of students with special educational needs (SEN) and will form an integral part of the wider SEN / Inclusion Team.

Responsibilities:

Individualised Support:

  • Provide one-on-one assistance to students with SEN, ensuring their specific needs are met.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to adapt and modify curriculum materials.
  • Foster a nurturing and inclusive learning environment.

Classroom Assistance:

  • Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Support teachers in managing classroom behaviour and implementing effective teaching strategies.
  • Facilitate small group activities to enhance learning opportunities.

Communication and Collaboration:

  • Communicate regularly with parents, teachers, and other support staff to provide updates on student progress.
  • Collaborate with the SENCO and other professionals to develop and implement tailored support strategies.
  • Attend and actively contribute to team meetings and training sessions.

Record Keeping:

  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and behaviour.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports and documentation required for SEN reviews.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Previous experience working in an educational setting with students aged between 11-18 with special educational needs is preferred. However, we welcome applications from those candidates with backgrounds in children's residential care, social work etc. with transferrable skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the needs of diverse learners.
  • A valid DBS on the Update Service OR willingness to obtain.
