We are proud to be supporting our client,  that specialises in Perishable Air-Imports, in finding an experienced Customs Clerk to join their expanding team.  The salary ranges between 38k and 45K and you can earn the higher amount dependent upon the amount of experience that you bring with you.  Perishable goods experience is ideal but not essential if you have strong customs experience along with air and road transport knowledge. 

This excellent independent Company is seeking a Customs Clerk, ideally with perishable goods experience and the expertise in managing the customs clearance process for persihable goods entering the country via Air and also Road from the EU.

The position is Evenings/Nights working 4 shifts on and 4 shifts off and a flexible start time of 4pm/5pm/6pm or 7pm for 12 hours each shift.  

The position calls for a customs professional who is highly numerate with excellent excel skills and the other MS Office packages.    The poisition gives you the opportunity to get involved in all areas of the business and the ETSF Warehouse, along with Transport Operations and the sales team.  

Your responsibilities will include:

Ensuring compliance with all Border Force, Port Health and APHA Regulations and requirements for perishable imports.  

Liaison with Transport Operations to monitor Shipments in transit, ensuring timely management of the whole process

Effectively conducting and controlling ETSF entries, ensureing Border Force compliance and facilitating all Import controls

Performing the entire APHA applications and customs clearance process from birth to death

Communicating with the Authorities, Airlines, Transport Ops and Customers to keep all stakeholders updated throughout the process.

The skills and experience you will need to carr out the role:

Proficiency in all Port/Plant Health applications, customs entries, ETSF protocol and the new Border Procedures for EU Imports

Excellent working nowledge of office software, in addition to Imports and Customs-specific software and platforms such as Gov Gateway, Descartes, Sequoia/ASM, IPAFFS, CHEIF, CNS, CCS, Dstin8, Pentant etc. 

You will have excellent attention to detail, especially during processing with clearly defined practices using excel worksheets and accuracy in record keeping.

Ability to generate leads and dries sales in the perishable imports sector using your relationship building skills

Excellent communication both written and oral and confident in chasing shipment status, collaborating with Transport and in reporting to customers
