Chichester College have an exciting opportunity for you to join us as a Site Librarian at our Brinsbury campus. You will join us on a Part Time, Term Time Only basis and in return, we will offer a competitive salary of £25,314.93 - £28,021.88 per annum.

The Site Librarian role:

This is a Site Librarian role with a difference! Working at Brinsbury College means working in a unique location, surrounded by 570 acres of stunning countryside with our very own farm, woodlands, orchard and more! You don’t often get that in your standard Site Librarian role!  

We are seeking an experienced, qualified Librarian to take day-to-day responsibility for the Library at Brinsbury College. You will liaise directly with curriculum staff to provide relevant resources, collection development and research skills training.  In liaison with teaching staff you will ensure that the stock, services and environment of the Library support student learning.

You should be educated to degree level and ideally have a CILIP accredited qualification in librarianship or information studies, or a commitment to obtaining such a qualification. Experience of working in a professional role in a library, preferably in the further education sector and proficient computer skills are advantageous. A qualification in teaching, supervisory experience and knowledge of the use of online learning resources in a further education context is desirable.

Key Responsibilities of our Site Librarian:

  • Developing and promote the stock and services of the Library through liaison with curriculum staff in across the campus.
  • Providing front line customer service on the Enquiry and Circulation Desks.
  • Monitoring and report on progress against Performance Indicators.
  • Assisting in the development, promotion and delivery of induction and information skills programmes both face-to-face and through electronic means.
  • Supporting the development and promotion of electronic learning resources, including writing and delivering tutorials and writing information guides.
  • Performing other professional duties, including stock acquisition and maintenance, as required.
  • Helping to provide cover to other Libraries within the College Group as required.
  • Monitoring the Library environment, by ensuring an atmosphere conducive to learning and by monitoring the LRC’s fabric, equipment and building services.

Our ideal Site Librarian should have the below skills and experience:

  • Education to degree level
  • A degree or postgraduate qualification in librarianship or information management accredited by the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals or willingness to work towards
  • English & Maths at a minimum of Level 2
  • Experience working within a customer focussed library environment
  • Knowledge of Microsoft applications, including a working knowledge of databases and websites
  • Knowledge of Equality Act 2010 and Safeguarding
  • Time management skills, organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
  • IT and keyboard skills, including use of email
  • Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative
