Contract Scotland has a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Sales Manager, with good technical experience, to join our client, an established supplier to the Scottish construction industry. This is a full-time, permanent position offering a competitive salary and company car, as well as the chance to embed yourself within a major supplier to the industry.

Your main role as a Sales Manager will be to drive business growth across Scotland, expanding on the company's already well-established client base.

You will report directly to the Commercial Manager, with operational support provided by the central operations team. This role is varied and requires someone who can develop honest and professional long-lasting relationships. In this position, you will be targeting opportunities during various stages of construction, with pre-construction being a key area of development - experience liaising with the likes of architects, housing contractors, and contractors across Scotland, would be desirable.

Responsibilities include: 

  • Maintain and expand an existing customer base while cultivating new leads and projects by establishing and nurturing client relationships.
  • Offer product and technical guidance to current and prospective customers, ensuring they receive the necessary support, literature, and samples.
  • Actively seek out and capitalise on sales opportunities through proactive research and development.
  • Drive product and system promotion to generate leads via architects, approved applicators, builders' merchants, distributors, housebuilders, and the self-build market.
  • Conduct on-site visits to assist architects, applicators, and contractors, ensuring accurate product specification and application.
  • Collaborate with the complete commercial team on lead-generation initiatives and business development strategies.

Requirements:

  • Background in mortars and renders technical field is a plus.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical information clearly.
  • Capability to foster enduring customer relationships through exceptional service and support.
  • Robust sales and business development expertise, with the power to influence decisions.

You will have sales/account management experience from a similar role, ideally with some knowledge of mortar and rendering- although, training will be provided. You will be an honest and consultative salesperson, able to develop strong, trusting and professional relationships, whilst delivering against set targets. You will also have the communication skills to deal with complaints/concerns effectively and efficiently to mitigate any loss to the business.
