Job description

Southampton Cargo Handling is the most extensive provider of stevedoring services in the UK. We have supported the port and logistics sectors for more than 30 years and our expertise spans the full range of port services.

We our now looking to recruit a Business Development Manager to join our Commercial Team in Southampton.

Place of Work: Primarily Southampton, / Visits to other areas of the business/Travelling for new business opportunities and maintaining business relationships

Working Days/Hours: Monday – Friday 40 hours a week

The Role

To help identify new commercial opportunities and drive growth across the Company’s business activities. Through a strategic approach to market and business development, you will significantly shape the development of the Company’s strategy by analysing the market and assisting as part of the Commercial Team in advising the Board of development opportunities.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in commercial consulting within the following industries, cruise, freight, logistics, and automotive is preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data to find an opportunity.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Detail-orientated with strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.
  • Adaptability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Knowledge of international trade regulations and shipping processes is a plus but not essential.
  • Full UK Drivers Licence
  • Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships at all levels within and outside of the business.
  • Willingness to travel inside and outside of the UK in the pursuit of commercial leads, or to maintain strong business bonds with existing customers is essential.

Salary: £45,000 - £60,000 DOE
