Our client is recruiting now for an exceptional Mechanical Maintenance Engineer for a PPM and breakdown contract working in a superstar corporate building in Central London.  The role of Mechanical Engineer will cover HVAC PPM and repairs, as well as multi-skill tasks to assist the team with the high-performance of the building by delivering tenant-side services. 

The Mechanical Engineer is accountable to the Technical Services Manager (TSM), for the effective and safe conduct of planned and reactive tasks, either self-delivered by or with operational control over subcontractors. 

This is a shift orientated role to provide sufficient technical cover at site participating in a shift rota as directed by the Technical Services Manager.  The shift pattern is a 4-day working week spanning Monday to Saturday with a clear rota of timings, with no overnights. 

Main duties of the role:

  • Ensure client equipment and systems are operating correctly to enable client operational needs and to escalate issues where appropriate where outputs are at risk. 
  • Assist with work order prioritisation, including communication with DigiHub/Helpdesk and end users over repair requirements.
  • Diagnose faults and repair assets within technical capability.
  • Quality assure technical activities against Global Engineering Standards and industry best practice, including employees and sub-contractors.
  • Carry out like for like asset replacement and minor new works as directed.
  • Build professional relationships with all stakeholders, including clients, subcontractors and site based and remote teams. 
  • Support the training and development of staff within the team.
  • Be awareness of cost/benefit applicable to the tasks performed.
  • Be awareness of sustainability and the impact from technical services delivery.

The person Spec:

  • Technical competence with NVQ level 2 or equivalent qualifications, preferably within an electrical or mechanical discipline.
  • Appropriate experience - 5 years
  • Practical technical skills and current working knowledge of engineering standards and best practice.
  • Practical experience of working independently in a technical maintenance environment
  • Practical experience of working to health and safety standards
  • IT literate with experience of using Microsoft Office applications and Computerised Maintenance Management Systems
  • Ability to self-manage and self-plan workload to meet set deadlines. Ability to communicate with customers and team members
