Health and Safety Manager

Location: Litchfield, Staffordshire

Salary: Circa £55k - £65k plus company car

A local construction company who specialises in Fit-Outs now require a Health and Safety Manager to join their team.

Health and Safety Manager – Job Role:

  • Promote and implement consistent good health, safety and environmental practices throughout all company activities.
  • Monitor, Evaluate and Review the companies Health, Safety and Environment Policy Statements on an annual basis.
  • Ensure that all employees are properly informed about the working, environmental and safety policies of the Company.
  • To monitor, evaluate and review Health and Safety policy and practice, make recommendations and implement new policies and procedures as required.
  • To assist in the identification of training needs for employees and develop and deliver training as required for managers and frontline employees.
  • Devise, develop and monitor effective Risk Assessment management strategies and make recommendations on the implementation of these strategies
  • Review and develop health and safety procedures and guidance, in keeping with best practice and make recommendations on their implementation and application.
  • Consult with senior managers and other line managers and give appropriate advice on formulating best-practice policies and procedures.
  • To advise the Board and senior management team on the implications of current and emerging health, safety and welfare legislation, including evaluating options on policy decisions and strategy direction, making recommendations and generating actions plans to ensure compliance across the Company.
  • To support managers to maintain safe systems, providing specialist advice, coaching and practical support.
  • To assist managers implement health and safety systems and procedures to meet specific requirements, such as accident reporting and the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) in a consistent and effective manner.
  • Ensure the Company, its Clients and Designers comply with the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015.
  • Plan and implement safety and health programmes and promotional activities (e.g. inspections, campaigns and competitions) that will improve the Companies safety and health awareness 
  • To consult employees on Health and Safety issues and to support and develop the role of the Company’s Health and Safety Committee, including arranging, and attending meetings.
  • Ensure that statutory requirements are being upheld throughout the Company e.g. COSHH, RIDDOR, Display Screen Equipment, Risk Assessments etc.

Health & Safety Manager – Person Requirements:

The ideal candidate MUST come from the Construction Industry as a Health and Safety Manager.  You will also have the following skills, qualifications or experience:

  • Hold a NEBOOSH Diploma in Health & Safety or Equivalent
  • Hold CMIOSH Membership
  • Have an Environmental Management Qualification such as IEMA or NEBOSH
  • Hold a CSCS Card
  • Must hold a full UK Driving License
