Five Education is looking to recruit a Behaviour Specialist Teacher to work with young people with Autism, SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs and behaviour challenges. The school is a specialist Alternative Provision school set in Taunton.

The children have SEMH challenges such as depression and social anxiety. Some of them have experienced Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs). Many of the children have been diagnosed with Autism (ASC). They may also have medical needs relating to special needs and mental health.

The person applying for this role should be able to demonstrate experience of teaching in a Pupil Referral Unit, or similar setting. You will need to be confident in dealing with challenging behaviour and have a resilient nature. You will need to be able to establish an excellent rapport with hard-to-reach pupils. Perhaps you have worked as a TA or HLTA previously or you may be working towards a teaching qualification.

The work is 5 days a week, term time only and the hours are 8:30-15:30. The day rate starts at £110 but you will earn more if you have relevant qualifications/experience. The day is 7 hours with an unpaid lunch break.

Responsibilities and duties:
·Teach content to children with SEMH, by following the specification and utilising existing reources.
· Help the pupils to access the curriculum and tailor the lesson of the activity to their level of ability.
· Make learning fun, enjoyable and accessible.
· Be a support to the pupils when they are struggling, and help them to calm down and remain focussed.

Essential Criteria:
· 2 years worth of references, 1 has to be working with children or vulnerable adults (needs to be recent and this could be paid or volunteer work)
· A relevant DBS/Police checks.
· Able to work between 08.30-15.30, 5 days a week
