Position Quantity Surveyor

Location York

Salary £50,000 - £55,000 + package

Provision of quantity surveying services under the direction of the Commercial Manager. The Quantity Surveyor's role is diverse and is key to the company's future development and success in delivering a continuous flow of new business and identifying opportunities in live projects to boost project performance.

Working on a variety of projects from new build construction, retail, refurbishments and fit out.

Key responsibilities

  • Maintain contract documentation and advise on pre-tender and post contract matters
  • Preparation and issue of contractual letters to clients and / or sub-contractors, where necessary
  • Past contract liaison with clients and / or design team
  • Sub-contract negotiation and timely letting of sub-contractors, including co-ordination of subcontractors
  • Preparation and submission of interim valuations
  • Manage and value variations both from sub-contractors and to clients / contract administrators
  • Agreement and certification of sub-contractor's interim valuations and final accounts
  • Agreement of final accounts with clients / contract administrators
  • To attend meetings and site visits
  • Assist in the completion and submission of PQQs
  • Maintain sub-contract data base
  • Prepare and issue sub-contract enquiries and assessment of quotations upon receipt
  • Complete tender documents for submission
  • Assist in producing commercial reports, cost reports, monthly reports etc.
  • Provide initial cashflow schedule for each project responsible

Key Skills

  • Commercial acumen.
  • Ability to work as part of a close-knit management team and manage numerous activities / projects simultaneously - both short and long term.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and with the minimum of supervision.
  • Outgoing personality essential for dealing directly with Clients and their design team.
  • Flexibility with regard to working across all areas of the business, and hours to meet the requirements of this challenging position.
  • Working knowledge of standard forms of measurement and contracts.
  • IT skills - particularly Microsoft Programs.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • To be willing to accept responsibility for completing designated tasks
