Platform Property Care is looking for an experienced professional to join our team as our new Service Manager. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference, being responsible for the overall delivery of Major Works and Contractors across all Responsive Repairs for Platform Housing Group. You’ll play a key role influencing and supporting the strategic growth of Platform Property Care.

So why is this an exciting time to join us? In this newly created role, you’ll get the opportunity and freedom to shape it as you go. You’ll collaborate with the existing team of Service Managers and dedicated Major Works Multi-Skill Trade Operatives, reviewing all sub- contractors for responsive repairs, identifying opportunities to further increase our team, tailoring it as you see fit and to the needs of the customer and business, whilst delivering at times complex major works satisfactorily.

Leading a diverse and geographically spread multi-trade team, and supported by a coordinator, you will be results focused, ensuring the service is delivered to meet contractual timescales and key performance indicators including sector leading customer experience and value for money; whilst supporting the wider Platform Property Care team objectives.

Some things we need from you

You might already be an experienced Repairs Manager or Contracts Manager, but you will have a strong people management background with a proven track record of leading and inspiring a team to deliver results either within the maintenance, construction or facilities management sectors.

Some skills and behaviours you need to demonstrate

  • Strong numeracy with ability to understand graphical data, ratios and financial information

  • Good Analytical problem solving and decision-making skills

  • Good written and verbal communications

  • Good organisational skills and ability to manage conflicting demands and priorities

  • Ability to establish strong sustained working relationships through effective personable influencing skills

Do you have this experience?

  • Experience of people management, both trades and contractor, within an external construction or building maintenance services environment

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Experience of managing a team remotely, and a multi-site environment

  • The ability to inspire, motivate and engage your team to deliver results – to be their best

  • Experience of working with internal and external clients and delivering services that meet strict KPIs including customer satisfaction and setting a clear level of customer service

  • Proven experience of monitoring, measuring and managing service performance, leading and motivating a strongly performing team and addressing under-performance where required

  • Strong experience of delivering maintenance works on time and to budget, with a right first-time mentality and approach

  • A customer focus with experience of delivering customer centric services

This role also requires covering the out of hours duty manager rota, which is currently one day in thirteen and includes weekends.

The role requires a full UK Driving Licence and covers housing stock and operatives, based group wide, spread out geographically.  We are a national Housing Association covering a large part of the Midlands so there will be regular travel as part of the role. The role comes with a van and a fuel card.

Part of Platform Housing Group, Platform Property Care is a well-established property maintenance business. Working with us is more than just a job. We value the contribution that our colleagues make to our business; our vision is clear – we are growing fast, and we aim to achieve our plan through an engaged and highly skilled team.
