Position: Pastoral Support Worker
Location: Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, UK
Employment Type: Full-Time
Salary: Actual salary will reflect the working pattern of 37 hours per week, 40 weeks per year.
Start Date: September 2024

About Us: An Aylesbury based Primary School is a caring and inclusive community dedicated to providing a supportive and nurturing environment for all pupils. They believe that every child deserves to feel safe, valued, and supported in their educational journey. We are currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated Pastoral Support Worker to join the team and contribute to the well-being and personal development of our pupils.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide emotional and social support to pupils, helping them to overcome barriers to learning and promoting positive behavior.
  • Work closely with teachers, parents, and external agencies to support the holistic development of pupils.
  • Develop and implement individual pastoral care plans for pupils with specific needs.
  • Facilitate group sessions and activities aimed at improving social skills, self-esteem, and resilience.
  • Monitor and record pupils' progress, providing regular feedback to relevant stakeholders.
  • Act as a point of contact for pupils experiencing difficulties and provide appropriate guidance and interventions.
  • Support the school's safeguarding procedures, ensuring the safety and welfare of all pupils.

Requirements:

  • Experience in a pastoral support role or similar position, ideally within an educational setting.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to build trusting relationships with pupils, parents, and staff.
  • Understanding of child development and the challenges faced by young people.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Desirable:

  • Relevant qualifications in counselling, social work, or education.
  • Experience working with children with special educational needs (SEN).
  • Knowledge of local support services and agencies.
