In this role, you will report directly to the Building Control Manager, taking charge of all matters concerning Building Regulations, the Building Act, and achieving targets within a shared area. This includes managing major projects and engaging in cross-boundary collaborations.

Day-to-day responsibilities:

• Maintain RBI status by renewing the Class 2 Register Building Inspector registration every four years.
• Operate as a Class 2 Registered Building Inspector, up to and including Category E, for a Local Authority client.
• Adhere to the Code of Conduct for Registered Building Inspectors set by The Building Safety Regulator.
• Supervise and sign off on work done by team members on projects they are not registered to work on, within your class and category, as needed.
• Ensure the safety and health of yourself and others, and collaborate with management to follow Service/Unit procedures and protocols.
• Provide expert professional assessments using judgement, experience, analytic decision-making, and interpersonal skills.
• Handle day-to-day activities within Building Control, including plan examination, inspection, and determination of standard and complex Building Regulation applications related to Area Surveying, Major Projects, and Partnering works.
• Supervise other staff members, taking responsibility for signing off their work when they assist on projects they are not registered to work on as required by the Building Safety Regulator.
• Occasionally supervise Building Control Surveyors, Assistant Surveyors, and Associates.

Qualifications:

• Registered as a Class 2F registered building inspector.
• Previous experience with a Local Authority as a Building Control Inspector or Surveyor.
• Ability to supervise, mentor, and guide less experienced staff members.
• In-depth knowledge and understanding of Building Regulations for Category 2 buildings.
• Degree in Building Surveying or an equivalent Construction-related HND or HNC qualification.
