One of our local authority clients are currently recruiting for a Senior Project Officer. This is a temporary contract for 1 month with possible further extension based on budget and performance.

Main Purpose of Post/Job Summary

The Senior SEND Project Officer is a new role within the SEND Leadership Team and will play a key role in providing project management and support to the Head of Service and service deputies. The post will project management oversight and support and coordinate the smooth running of all programme activity, ensuring forward planning and engagement with stakeholders across the county.

The post holder will need to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal colleagues and external partners at all levels and be able to confidently line manage SEND Project Officer(s) to meet the demands of the transformation and business needs of the service.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage all programmes in support of Head of SEND and SEND Senior Managers in the delivery of the SEND Transformation programme, in line with agreed objectives, outcomes and stakeholder expectations.
  • Proactively support progress tracking and monitoring, coordination of reporting functions and escalate of any risks/issues/blocs to ensure that the programme is delivering as planned.
  • Develop and maintain tools to support project planning, financial monitoring and budget management, including where the tasks are delegated to Project Officers.
  • Oversee the coordination and support of project and workstream meetings, workshops, communications and stakeholder engagement events including appropriate deployment and line management of SEND Project Officer(s).
  • Support the use and effectiveness of communication including developing tools for collating feedback and tracking engagement with diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Maintain high levels of quality and customer service with colleagues, external stakeholders and members of the public.
  • Inform the Senior Leadership Team of risks to project deliveries in a timely manner. This to include, where possible, proposing solutions to mitigate the risks.
  • Ensure that budget oversight is planned into all project mapping and that budgets are closely monitored over the course of the project.
  • To work with professionals across the Local Area including school leaders, health and social care colleagues.
  • To engage in the political processes in order to support senior managers to prepare and submit documents and presentations in a timely manner.
