We are seeking a Research Assistant to work for a technology company near Huntingdon.

JOB PURPOSE

The Research Assistant role provides technical and scientific support to research innovation activities, specifically by supporting implementation of electronic device fabrication and characterisation. This role is largely laboratory based.

MAIN ACTIVITIES

•           Perform experimental procedures.  For example, produce inks, coat organic materials, assemble electronic devices and perform device characterisation.

•           Compile and analyse results in a timely and accurate manner; accurate logging details of fabrication processes into provided databases.

•           Ensure work procedures are followed and all necessary controls are in operation, to maintain high stands of housekeeping locally.

•           Proactive and effective communication with all members of the team to discuss issues, progress and plans.

•           Present verbal and written reports, together with clear conclusions of research investigations.

•           Creatively contribute to idea generation, experimental studies and project meeting discussions.

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED

Essential

•           Strong academic scientific background, including a degree in a Chemistry, Material Science or Physics.

•           Experience of working in a scientific research laboratory in a strong research and development aligned industry/organisation.

•           Strong communication skills with respect to scientific/technical subject matters, able to clearly describe research topics, including a strong understanding of theoretical backgrounds.

•           Demonstrated ability to deliver clear conclusions from the analysis of research activities

•           Ability, understanding and willingness to seek expert assistance where required either using internal resources or seeking external input as required.

Desirable

•           Familiarity with one or more of the following:

o          Python

o          LabView

o          SQL

•           Experience with a wide range of device fabrication or semiconductor processing equipment, for example, coaters, evaporators, and metrology systems is highly desirable.
