Are you an experienced Customs Agent ? Would you like to work remotely working a night shift. Our client, a Fresh Produce Distributor is seeking an experienced Customs Agent for their Night Shift role, 4 on/4 off. The main purpose of the role is to be responsible for the timely Import and Export Clearance of goods for clients, ensuring compliance with Government and other regulatory bodies at all times. Supporting customers by submitting necessary applications to the relevant authorities to enable their goods to meet legislative requirements in areas such as Plant Health Declarations, Organic notifications and IPAFFS. Aiding colleagues and customers on regulatory and customs related matters through provision of regular updates and query resolution.

Responsibilities:

  • Consulting with Importers, Exporters and other applicable parties to obtain mandatory information for Import and Export Entries, ensuring all appropriate paperwork for each consignment is received to enable Customs Entries and Clearance checks to be completed in a timely manner.
  • Complete relevant HMRC declarations and other agency applications for Import and Exports, ensuring all regulatory and compliance requirements are met.
  • Interacting with Customs authorities and other Government agencies to address and queries or issues which may arise during Customs Clearance.
  • Consulting with customers, ensuring they are kept informed of Clearance status of consignments and resolving any customer queries that arise.
  • Supporting other team members in understanding issues and potential solutions.
  • Handling enquiries from colleagues and customers relating to Customs procedures, Tariff Classifications & Regulatory Requirements, Duty Rates and Documentation Requirements.
  • Regularly updating self, colleagues and customers of any HMRC and Government Agency regulations and changes.
  • Be aware of Group and Company H&S and Environmental Policies, Procedures and Protocols.
  • Report all accidents, near misses, unsafe acts or conditions and environmental events notes throughout the business to the H & S Manager through the "HUB".
  • Notify Line Manager of any procedures or work arrangements that you do not understand or feel competent to undertake.
  • Work in accordance with any H&S instruction or training that has been given.

You will be a confident, reliable, accurate, self motivated, inquisitive, proactive and methodical thinker and able to focus effectively on the task in hand with the ability to deliver to agreed timescales and meticulous attention to detail and organisational skills. Fluent in Polish will be an advantage. HMRC Compliance and excellent knowledge of Customs Clearance Entries.
