About the role

The postholder will work alongside the Mulberry Junction Team and within the Haringey Rough Sleeping Taskforce to prevent and reduce rough sleeping in Haringey, and where it happens to make sure it is ‘brief, rare and non-recurring’. To do this, the postholder will work collaboratively, creatively and to a high standard with a wide range of partners cross borough boundaries.

This role will provide intervention and recovery to facilitate moves and reconnections within London and the UK, family reunification, international reconnection and employment opportunities. Working predominantly with Non-UK Nationals, this worker will be engaged with immigration advice services, employment support opportunities, specialist recruitment agencies, Jobcentre Plus and rough sleeping and homelessness partners to facilitate routes off the street for people with limited options.

Working to ensure an effective multi-agency response to rough sleeping, the postholder will keep accurate records, liaise with partner agencies and rough sleeping coordinators, and provide follow-up support to ensure actions are completed to a high standard and outcomes for people are improved.

The Mulberry Junction team is a dynamic part of Haringey's response to ending rough sleeping. We are Haringey’s dedicated resource centre located in Tottenham for single people aged 18+ affected by, or at immediate risk of homelessness. This can include people who are rough sleeping, sofa surfing, at risk of eviction, or struggling in their home. We provide a range of services on site, delivered in a flexible and personal way by our specialist team that includes people with personal experience of accessing services and homelessness. We run co-located services to ensure rough sleepers get the support they need by partnership working with Outreach services, Homeless Health Inclusion teams, immigration and housing advisors as well as substance misuse teams.

About you

We are seeking a dedicated professional to manage and support a caseload of clients requiring reconnection services either to Haringey, other UK boroughs, or abroad. This role involves working with clients who have high support and complex needs, coordinating and chairing multi-agency case conferences, and maintaining an up-to-date understanding of immigration options. The successful candidate will deputize alongside the service manager, attending and chairing meetings as needed, and oversee the work of the Rough Sleeping Coordinator to ensure effective management of ‘rent-free’ bedspaces across the borough. Additionally, this role includes contributing to fortnightly Task and Targeting meetings, responding to queries about rough sleeping in the borough, and facilitating communication between partner agencies to secure rapid rehousing for rough sleepers. Excellent IT and communications skills are essential for this post, as it at least two years of experience working with societies most vulnerable communities.

The role also involves maintaining accurate records of accommodation placements, providing analysis of beneficiary demographics, and acting as an advocate for service users, challenging perceptions, and modeling a trauma-informed approach. You will contribute data and creative solutions to support the Haringey Safeguarding Adult Board’s commitment to safeguarding vulnerable individuals. Representation at sub-regional and pan-London meetings will be required, as will supporting the operational delivery of the Severe Weather Emergency Protocol and participating in outreach shifts. This position requires working in a way that respects the personal, social, cultural, and spiritual strengths of rough sleepers in Haringey, utilizing a Trauma Informed Care approach to manage conflict and distress, and ensuring financial record-keeping aligns with Council procedures.
