Rotating Equipment Engineer - Teesside - DMW Recruitment

My client is a bulk liquid storage provider operating terminals strategically placed across the UK. They currently require a rotating equipment engineer to be based at their multiple sites across Teesside on a permanent basis. 

Role:

You will be the technical authority for rotating mechanical equipment which includes pumps and compressors.  Reporting to the integrity manager, you will be the focal point for both maintenance and projects to assist in troubleshooting, specifying and budgeting of mechanical equipment - specifically rotating equipment.

Job Purpose:

  • Technically responsible for all rotating mechanical equipment scope and other mechanical equipment.
  • Preparation of in-house specifications and procedures.
  • Participate in Process Hazard Analysis Studies (HAZIDs, HAZOPs) and FMEA studies.
  • Lead in the identification and scoping of projects and plant modifications.
  • Prepare cost estimates and business case proposals for mechanical CAPEX.
  • Prepare EN/API data sheets, pump and compressor technical specifications, seal upgrades, including identification of performance and quality requirements.
  • Review of feed, detailed design and commissioning deliverables.
  • Specification of pump repairs and overhauls including performance testing and quality requirements.
  • Manage vendors and tenders including responding to vendor clarifications/technical queries. 
  • Drive utilities savings, both those supplied to and generated within the sites, ensuring optimal use and energy efficiency within mechanical equipment.
  • Interface with maintenance to assist in budgeting and scheduling rotating equipment condition monitoring and preventative/corrective works.
  • Undertake mechanical DSEAR risk assessments.
  • Working knowledge of Regulations and Directives: DSEAR (Mechanical ATEX), PER (PED), Machinery Directive, PUWER, COMAH and CDM.
  • Working Knowledge of applicable API, EN, EEMUA and ASME standards.
  • Experience of working within MAH environments.
  • To give consideration to the safe movement of hazardous products.
  • Manage project and maintenance activities to ensure plant availability and safety.
  • Attend site out of normal hours as required to support terminal operations.
  • Ensure that all contractors working on the site comply with site rules and regulations.
  • Provide technical expertise to terminal hazard studies, SIL reviews and safety assessments
  • Provide technical expertise as required by the terminal and UK business.

Requirements:

  • Relevant Mechanical Engineering degree or significant project experience
  • Significant mechanical experience including the specification and maintenance of all types of rotating equipment.
  • Site commissioning and troubleshooting experience.
  • Experience in a COMAH regulated industry.
  • Experience in managing ageing assets.
  • Working knowledge of current legislation relating to industry such as of DSEAR (ATEX), PER (PED), Machinery Directive and PUWERWorking.
  • Knowledge of applicable codes and standards such as API, EN, EEMUA & ASME.
  • An awareness of current and new emerging technologies.
  • Full Driving Licence.

Salary: £50k-55k DOE per annum.
