Role: Management Accountant

Role Purpose

To provide a high quality, end to end financial management service to the Business Partners, Head of Finance, Financial Director, Managing Director and Senior Management Team.

Recruiting for the role of Management Accountant, a newly established position created in reaction to rapid growth over the past few years, and to maintain the current momentum.

This role is vital to our on-going success, as it will be influential in enhancing the capabilities and effectiveness of our finance team.

This is a key position that not only supports our current operations but also contributes to our decision-making processes, ensuring we are well position for future growth and success.

The Role

  • Preparation of the monthly management accounts for our Hire, Service, Transport and box shift divisions, including analysis and interpretation of business performance.
  • Ensure that planned and actual performance is reported effectively and understood by the senior management team.
  • Interrogate gross margin ensuring all revenues and associated costs are identified in the relevant period.
  • Produce and publish Flash Performance Reports to provide timely actionable insight into business performance.
  • Investigate and explain financial variances to stakeholders across the business.
  • Produce and monitor KPIs on asset and stock utilisation.
  • Control of the balance sheet to ensure that it is always accurately reflective of the true financial position for the business.
  • Use your deep understanding of the business to identify cost management initiatives and opportunities to improve efficiency.
  • Identify and analyse financial trends to inform investment and operational decisions.
  • Work closely with Business Partners to control Protean driven control accounts – WIP, stock, PO accruals.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance financial processes and implement effective solutions.
  • Provide timely and accurate financial information, analysis, and insights to the organisation to guide decision making and feed into forecasting and budgeting.
  • Assist Business Partners with monthly reporting and consolidations for the Group
  • Assist the Business Partners with annual audit preparation and delivery.
  • Reconciliation of key portal driven customer accounts in partnership with credit control function.
  • Work closely with other areas of the finance team, the Head of Finance and other reports to the Finance Director, to ensure that overall objectives are delivered.
  • Ad hoc investigations and projects as requested by the Head of Finance, Finance Director, Managing Director and senior management team.

Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a highly motivated individual with strong analytical skills and a keen eye for detail. Whether you are studying for a qualification or recently qualified, you should possess excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to effectively collaborate with colleagues across different departments. Experience in management accounting and financial analysis is essential, along with proficiency in Excel

Essential

  • Recently qualified/ Final Level Studier (CIMA, ACCA, or ACA)
  • Strong excel skills, comfortable working with large sets of data
  • Continuous improvement mindset, willing to innovate and improve practices
  • High integrity with a keen eye for accuracy
  • Able to demonstrate strong analytical skills and understand / interpret information quickly
  • Previous experience within a similar role
  • Strong systems skills and experience in working with Microsoft Office tools

Desirable

  • Experience using PowerBi or Excel PowerQuery advantageous but more importantly is the willingness to learn these skills as we look to digitize the business going forward
  • Understanding of relational database structures
