Our client is a market leader in the automotive sector and they are looking to recruit an experienced legal advisor to assist with their wide-ranging business.


Due to the diverse nature of the business, the successful candidate must be capable of 'wearing many hats.' You will be supporting the business across employment, property and customer/commercial disputes.

You need to be hands-on and be able to communicate with colleagues and customers from all walks of life. Strong people skills are a must.

The Role:

  • We are searching for an in-house legal advisor to join our clients growing family-led business. Reporting directly to the board of directors you will be responsible for assisting in all legal matters with a particular focus on assisting the business in relation to contractual arrangements with third parties, terms and conditions, consumer disputes, insurance matters, as well as ad hoc property matters.
  • You will be involved in all aspects of the day-to-day operation of the business and be involved in the commercial discussions and decisions providing advice and support from a legal and commercial perspective to assist the business with its continued growth and development.
  • The role will also involve working with the Compliance and HR functions of the business to ensure that precedents, corporate processes and policies are kept up to date.

Qualifications:

  • A qualified solicitor with experience in practice - in-house and/or private practice
  • 2+ years post-qualification experience in corporate/ commercial/ consumer law
  • Demonstrable experience in drafting and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts is essential
  • Litigation experience is preferred
  • Clear analytical skills, with the ability to process large amounts of information into effective legal proceedings
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, a confident negotiator, with an ability to influence at all levels and explain and put complex legal and technical terms into practical workable solutions
  • IT Skills, including the ability to self-sufficiently operate Microsoft Office suite and Outlook software

Responsibilities:

  • Advise the business on all legal issues relating to agreements (supplier and customer), litigation, consumer complaints (including FOS complaints), planning and ad hoc property projects and general business matters.
  • Manage all aspects of civil litigation claims from beginning to end including drafting substantive responses, drafting Proceedings and Particulars of Claim/Defence.
  • Liaise and negotiate with lenders as to rates and terms, operating agreements and any consumer complaints raised with the lender.
  • Advise the business on applicable legal obligations, identifying and rationalising legal risk and ensuring legal input to the internal governance and compliance processes.
  • Contribute to the drafting of policy, process and guidance on legal issues.
  • Prepare and deliver in-house training in your area of expertise.
  • Liaise with and manage the business's external legal services provider.
  • Complete all internal and external reporting requirements including assisting the compliance and accounts team with FCA returns.
Hours and Pay:
  • Pay: £50,000.00-£60,000.00 per year
  • Hours: 40 per week (9-6pm with 1 hour for lunch)
