Electrical, Controls & Instrumentation Engineer – Power Generation

Up to circa £57,500 + benefits

MC Technical Recruitment are recruiting for an Electrical, Controls and Instrumentation Engineer / Team Leader to join an energy from waste power station in Peterborough. The EC&I Engineer will be responsible for the day-to-day supervision and maintenance activities of all EC&I assets across the plant to ensure maximum plant availability and minimum downtime.

Roles and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and supervising the EC&I Team comprising of 2 Technicians and 1 apprentice
  • Hands on fault finding, repair work and planned and unplanned maintenance on all electrical and C&I assets to maximise plant availability. This includes pressure, level, temperature and flow sensors, control systems and some electrical equipment such as motors and variable speed drives
  • Collaborating with Technicians and the Engineering Manager to ensure an accurate daily schedule is produced and worked to
  • Work with the site engineering team on plant improvement projects and upgrades
  • Assisting during site outages / shutdowns when required
  • Maintaining accurate maintenance records using the site CMMS
  • Management of contracts and site contractors as required


Experience and Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

  • An apprenticeship in electrical/instrumentation engineering or similar
  • A relevant engineering qualification at HNC/ONC level or similar
  • Proven hands on maintenance experience across electrical, control and instrumentation maintenance in a relevant engineering environment – power plant, refinery, paper mill, steel works, chemical site etc.
  • Experience using CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management Systems)
  • HV experience is desirable but not essential
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation e.g., health and safety and environmental etc.
