And right now, we’re looking for a Licensing Lead. Based at our Capenhurst or Stoke Poges site you’ll be be responsible for and manage compliance with Urenco’s multi-site UK export licence, and provide guidance and advice to the Urenco Group on applicable export control legislation.

You will establish and maintain arrangements necessary to ensure the Urenco Group complies with all legal and regulatory obligations associated with the import and export of all dual-use goods, software and technology, in line with the terms of Urenco’s multi-site export licence.

What will your day look like?

  • To act as the export control subject matter expert, key point of contact for day to day export control advice, and escalation point for export control queries. 
  • Ensure that appropriate export control records and consignee undertakings are collated, maintained and readily available (as required by the terms of any licence or authorisation) for inspection, working in conjunction with other departments.
  • Prepare and submit new UK export licence applications (including via SPIRE or LITE) for certain exports of goods, software and technology by the Urenco Group.
  • Provide timely, accurate and professional advice to the internal customer community and proactively participating in projects where export control licence advice is required.
  • Develop and implement continuous improvement actions to address any licensing issues arising out of export control audits.
  • Support and develop internal export control licensing policies and procedures, including internal processes required to ensure ongoing compliance.

What do you need to be great at this role? 

  • Minimum of 5 (five) years’ experience in an export control licensing role
  • Specialist and detailed knowledge of relevant UK export control regulations (other relevant jurisdictions including the US, Netherlands and Germany is desirable)
  • Familiar with export control licence applications within the UK (other relevant jurisdictions including the US, Netherlands and Germany is desirable)
  • Ability to communicate directly and confidently with senior management and export control regulators.
  • Experience of designing and implementing an export control programme in a multi-national organisation is desirable
  • Ability to analyse complex business situations and to advise on the impact of export control regulations.
  • Ability to develop and implement strategic and tactical processes for export control compliance.
