Athwal Resourcing is seeking a proactive and skilled UK Finance Controller to lead and enhance the finance function of a Global Business. As the UK Finance Controller, you will report to and be supported by the European Financial Controller. You will head up the UK company's finance function, covering all accounting, compliance, controls, forecasting, budgeting, and reporting areas. Your Role and Responsibilities:

  • Financial Reporting: Complete the monthly reporting and preparation of management accounts, ensuring all necessary reporting is within UK and European reporting timelines;
  • Internal Controls: Monitor and develop the financial and operational control environment, maintaining necessary internal control standards, processes, documentation, and systems;
  • Leadership and Mentoring: Provide strong leadership, direction, and mentoring to the finance team, managing three direct reports;
  • Business Partnering: Develop strong relationships with the UK Management Team and colleagues, enabling effective business partnering and providing financial insights to drive improvement in operational and financial performance;
  • Audit and Tax: Lead liaison with external auditors and tax advisors, ensuring financial statements are completed, signed off, and filed within agreed deadlines;
  • Budgeting and forecasting: Take the lead on budgeting for the UK business and ensure accurate forecasting;
  • Transfer Pricing: Prepare, review, and implement the company's transfer pricing;
  • Treasury Management: Oversee day-to-day treasury functions;
  • Regulatory Compliance: Prepare and submit VAT returns, UK government statistics, and R&D claims;
  • ERP Implementation: Assist in the UK financial aspects of implementing the new Global ERP system;
  • Capital Expenditure: Prepare capital expenditure requests and support EMEA Management with updated costings of major projects and maximisation of capital allowances.

Ideally, you will have previous skills and experience:

  • ACA/ACCA/CIMA / Qualified;
  • Strong understanding of UK GAAP and financial controls, Ideally with a background in audit or a controls environment;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to support the internal stakeholders;
  • Previous experience of leading a finance team;
  • Strong analytical and reporting capabilities for board reporting;
  • Commercially aware with an open growth mindset;
  • Experienced user of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
