Mechanical Quantity Surveyor

Crewit Resourcing is seeking a Mechanical Quantity Surveyor for a permanent position, offering a considerable portfolio of works for the next 5+ years. Role Purpose: The Mechanical Quantity Surveyor will work across various contracts to ensure maximum commercial benefit for the company. The role involves managing the project from the tender stage through to final accounts, including all-encompassing duties in between.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Budgeting and Reporting:

    • Develop Bill of Quantities (BOQs) and profit plans.
    • Report detailed commercial status of projects to the Project Manager.
  2. Client and Internal Communication:

    • Conduct interim commercial meetings with clients and the internal project team.
  3. Subcontractor Management:

    • Manage subcontractor accounts, interim valuations, and final accounts.
    • Process payment certificates and ensure payments are made as per agreed sub-contract and procurement terms, including applicable retentions.
  4. Contract Administration:

    • Administer contract obligations and meet additional client requirements.
    • Issue interim and final accounts and progress applications per project and contract requirements.
    • Ensure monthly applications are inclusive of accurate remeasures, site changes, dayworks, and any applicable contract claims.
  5. Risk Management:

    • Identify potential commercial risks and promptly report them to Senior Management.
  6. Scheduling and Collaboration:

    • Collaborate closely with the Planning Engineer regarding the accuracy of progress reporting.
  7. Cost Management:

    • Cost and agree on daily work changes, including managing subcontractor remeasurement of contract works, site dayworks, and site change orders.
    • Maintain accurate records and provide necessary detailed backup to support commercial tracking and costing.
  8. Negotiation and Representation:

    • Negotiate with clients or their representatives as necessary.
    • Set an example of enthusiasm, loyalty, and hard work in performing all duties.

Requirements:

  1. Experience:

    • Minimum of 4+ years of Quantity Surveying experience on mechanical projects.
    • Experience working on mechanical projects valued in excess of €5 million within the data centre, pharmaceutical, industrial, or commercial sectors.
  2. Education:

    • 3rd level qualification in Construction Economics / Quantity Surveying, ideally coupled with a technical background as either a Plumber/Pipefitter or Mechanical Engineer.
  3. Skills and Knowledge:

    • Proficiency in Excel.
    • Detailed knowledge of commercial management and the QS role within construction.
    • Understanding of contract conditions and their applications.
    • Overall understanding of the business, client, and subcontractor relations, and installations.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Strong record-keeping and administration skills.
    • Process-driven with a focus on EHS and Quality Work Management Systems and Processes.
