About the role:

We are seeking an experienced and qualified Consultant Clinical Psychologist to join our clients highly regarded service in Birmingham. The successful candidate will provide strategic, professional leadership to their multidisciplinary rehabilitation team, ensuring the provision and development of high-quality, evidence-based neuropsychological rehabilitation practices.

Your Responsibilities as a Consultant Clinical Psychologist will include:

Strategic Leadership: Provide professional and clinical leadership to the Brain Injury Rehabilitation Trust (BIRT) through the Clinical Executive, ensuring the highest standards of quality and current best practices are met across the service.

Service Development: Lead the planning and development of a systematic response to service needs, interpreting professional policies and contributing to the implementation of service-wide policies with a strong emphasis on research and development.

Expert Consultation: Offer clinical services at a high level of expertise, supporting and advising colleagues on neuropsychological clinical practices. Provide expert clinical consultation and professional guidance to clinical neuropsychologists, clinical psychologists, and other clinicians within BIRT.

Multidisciplinary Leadership: Lead the multidisciplinary team, including clinical and support staff, to ensure the delivery of high-quality neurorehabilitation services. Offer clinical leadership across relevant regional BIRT services.

About you:

Essential Qualifications:

  • Degree in Psychology accepted by the British Psychological Society (BPS) for Graduate Basis Registration (GBR) or equivalent.
  • Doctorate in Clinical Psychology accredited by the BPS.
  • Registered as a Practitioner Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

Essential skills:

  • Ability to comprehend and communicate highly complex and sensitive information, both verbally and in writing, tailored to various settings and audiences, including those with significantly impaired communication capacities.
  • Expertise in analysing and managing complex multi-factorial information from clinical and organisational sources, integrating and formulating it from various psychological perspectives, and making expert professional judgements about appropriate actions in a public service context.
  • Strong skills in managing specialist professional staff, overseeing the day-to-day management of clinical services, and handling financial resources.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Mental Health Act, and its implications for clinical practice and professional management in relation to the service user group.
  • Experience working as a Consultant or extensive experience as a Principal Clinical Psychologist in a relevant setting.
