SCIENCE TECHNICIAN
•Starting date: As soon as possible
•Hours: Full time, 36 hours per week; term time only
•Salary: £22,635 - £25,138 per annum (actual salary)
We are seeking to appoint a science technician to work in our high achieving, busy science department, to support the delivery and teaching of science (biology, chemistry, and physics) across all three key stages (KS3, KS4/GCSE and KS5/A level). The main responsibilities of the post holder will include:
•preparing, maintaining, and designing classroom experiments to support and enhance the teaching ofscience at KS3, GCSE and A level.
•carrying out departmental risk assessments,
•maintaining equipment and inventories
•ordering stock and
•carrying out the safe disposal of waste.
There is daily contact with students plus opportunities to assist with practical’s or perform demonstrations in class when requested.
The post requires you to have:
•a keen attention to detail
•the ability to follow protocols
•a willingness to learn new skills
•the ability to communicate on all levels and to work as a team.
•a good level of computer literacy
The successful candidate will ideally have an A level or higher qualification in a science discipline and experience working in a laboratory or research environment. In addition, previous experience working in a school or higher education teaching environment would be valuable.
