Permanent: Monday to Friday 8am - 4pm

Salary negotiable depending on experience

We expect the Assistant Operations Manager to understand, engage and support the Operations Manager in coordinating the daily tasks of the production department and all related areas. The Assistant Operations Manager supervises and supports the work of Shift Managers to ensure employee safety, product safety, product quality, hygiene level, efficiency and compliance with environmental safety requirements.

Get to know and understand the Company's financial situation and work with your team on reducing volatility and costs

Essential daily tasks:

Adherence to regulations and occupational health and safety principles.

Comprehending and adhering to all corporate standards for ensuring quality and food safety, and promptly responding to any irregularities in the process.

Review of the last 24 hours of production, discussing the next 24 hours of production

Conversation with the Shift Managers about the last 24 hours at the Plant

Discussing people's safety - discussion of possible accidents and near misses, discussion of the availability of people in production 

Discussing possible quality incidents, QIPA forms

Discussing production results for the last day, in particular: implementation of the production plan, waste level, possible failures or other unplanned events

Discussing the production plan for the next 24 hours

Discussing possible safety and quality threats that affect the implementation of the production plan

Reporting results to the Operations Manager

Discussing human safety subject

Discussing potential quality events

Discussing production results for the previous day

Reporting any situation of increased/decreased employment

Reporting staffing levels on all shifts

Ensure daily communication with Shift Managers

Effective communication should include providing relevant and reliable information

Ensure that all Shift Managers have the information to properly plan, understand and perform their work

Eliminate and minimize errors and mistakes resulting from providing incorrect and irrelevant information

Ensure your continuous presence in the production area

Participate in daily QA patrols

Participate in monthly inspections of the Production Plant

Provide effective leadership and ongoing guidance to all team members through daily communication and feedback on their work

Adhere consistently to policies and procedures for all team members

Daily checklist revision

Ensure that required documentation is completed on an ongoing basis (checklists, CP forms)

Double check that the checklist is completed accurately and thoroughly (in each category)

Verify the accuracy of checklists with the Shift Management

Complete the specified tasks and projects - in line with the requirements

Coordinate with your superior the range of actions, the time of their execution, and the method of progress monitoring

Engage in assigned activities and projects

Take care of the ‘on-the-job- training program

Collect reports on training needs from Shift Managers

Review training plans with the Operations Manager once a month

Corrective actions and non-standard tasks

Monitoring and validating the execution of corrective action registry tasks

Planning non-standard (production-related) and seasonal cleaning sessions

Preparing a to-do list for Production Teams

Essential skills and behaviours:

  • Mastering the supervision of various spheres of responsibility simultaneously, including people and processes.
  • Ability to identify, rectify, and enhance both employee and product safety areas
  • Comprehension of quality standards, compliance with these standards, and reporting doubts when the process does not go smoothly.
  • Participation in meetings on improving work safety, fire protection rules, evacuation, etc. as required
  • Comprehension, application, and training of team members in the area of measurement systems and tools.
  • Using rational and critical thinking to help solve both production and employee problems
  • Using statistical process control to consistently reduce process variability
  • Holding a Yellow Belt certificate or being open to training in this area to obtain the certificate
  • Knowledge of modern production management systems
  • Eagerness to develop knowledge and skills related to Emotional Quotient
  • Supporting on-the-job training programs
  • Understanding production processes and readiness for their continuous improvement
  • Very good command of MS Office
  • High communication skills assuming clear and precise expression, ability to understand the statements of others, ability to listen:
  • Skill in conducting interdepartmental meetings and presenting data.
  • Supporting, appreciating and encouraging teamwork
  • Building and maintaining relationships between departments and areas in the plant
  • Showing respect to colleagues

Required experience:

Higher education

Familiarity with the food industry requirements, HACCP, GMP, GHP

Experience in a production company in the food industry sector (Bakery experience preferrable)

Experience in team management

Health condition enabling work in food production
