Opus People Solutions are seeking an Environmental Health and Community Safety Manager on a full time, permanent basis.

The main purpose of this role is integrating environmental health and community safety into one service, which includes the Community Wardens, and they need someone who has the skill and drive to take this further.

They are looking for the successful person to have experience in either environmental health or in community safety, have excellent interpersonal skills, management experience, be innovative and have financial management experience.

Day to day, you will:

  • Manage and develop teams in order to effectively contribute to the Safe element of the service.
  • Manage responsibilities regarding environmental health and community safety which includes, but not limited to, food safety, health and safety, industrial pollution, nuisance, envirocrime, private housing enforcement, contaminated land, air quality, water quality, caravan site licensing and community safety.
  • Liaise and work with partners and other organisations in order to maintain and enhance environmental health and community safety particularly in relation to relevant strategies, policies and activities. These will include the Community Safety Partnership.
  • Demonstrate commitment and leadership within the service to achieve transformational change, encourage and support innovation in order to deliver high quality efficient and effective service for our citizens.
  • Effectively manage the units resources (financial and others), including budget preparation, service plan development, monitoring and ensuring appropriate actions are taken to control the performance of the unit.
  • Be responsible for ensuring that they have robust and appropriate corporate health and safety arrangements.
