One of our local authority clients are currently recruiting for a Systems Support Officer. This is a 4 month temporary contract with possible further extension based on budget and performance.

Main Purpose of Post/Job Summary

To provide administrative support to the Finance Systems team for the development of processes and systems to support the demands and needs of the organisation in respect of effective financial services.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • To contribute towards the formulation, implementation and review of all appropriate service plans
  • To contribute towards the formulation, implementation and review of finance and financial systems policy
  • To contribute towards the delivery of an effective, high performing, customer focused  application support service that is continuously improving and ensure that the agreed service standards are met.
  • To promote corporate working and effective team building in order to provide financial information, analysis, support and advice to officers as appropriate in their operational and strategic roles.
  • To maintain the required level of market intelligence and knowledge of key developments in order to assist the Team Manager in formulating the most effective, innovative and forward looking financial systems.
  • To assist the team to ensure that all functions within the section are maintained and enhanced.
  • To provide clerical support for regular and ad hoc meetings with internal or external stakeholders, which may include discussions regarding current and future statutory / management reporting requirements, future system enhancements and development and communication of IT and technical issues and concepts to non IT staff.
  • To ensure any ongoing issues and resolution are reported to the line manager including if escalation is required
  • To provide clerical support for change and enhancement requests and provide helpdesk statistic data for analysis.
  • To work closely with the systems team and other sections to maintain an integrated, professional helpdesk service.
  • To maintain effective communications to ensure that key interests both inside and outside the Directorate are appropriately informed and involved.
  • To embrace the City Council’s vision and values through promotion of sound financial information.
  • To promote a culture of opportunity, achievement, responsibility and personal development within the section.
  • To actively promote diversity in the provision of services in accordance with the Council’s policies and procedures.
  • To promote an interest and an enthusiasm in new technology and products.
