At their sites at Culham, Oxfordshire and Rotherham, South Yorkshire, they have a rapidly growing workforce to fulfil their expanding programme of research, focused on delivering the UK's first fusion prototype power plant by 2040.
Company Secretary for UKIFS
Location: Culham OX14 3DB Part time 2 days per week (15 hours total) On site presence
Responsibilities:
- Manage statutory filings, maintain company records, and ensure adherence to statutory obligations, including Companies Act requirements.
- Provide professional support to the Board of Directors, including preparing minutes, resolutions, and board packs, and facilitating board induction and training.
- Organize board meetings, and sub committees of the board meetings to ensure accurate recording of minutes and timely dissemination to board members.
- Oversee the preparation and submission of statutory and regulatory filings.
- Maintain and update company records, registers, and statutory documentation in accordance with legal requirements.
- Manage the company's official books and records.
- Stay abreast of changes in legislation and legal trends to ensure proactive legal compliance
- Collaborate with senior management in the development and review of corporate policies and procedures.
- Provide training to board members and staff on governance, compliance, and ethical considerations.
- Provide advice on Freedom of Information requests
Experience and Qualifications required:
Degree level or equivalent experience
- [Company secretary qualification]
- Qualified lawyer
- Knowledge and understanding of public sector procurement regulations, UK public sector law, Companies Act.
- Understanding of public sector governance frameworks and regulatory requirements.
- Track record of deploying strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to provide strategic legal advice.
Required:
- Extensive expertise in a broad spread of legal areas to cover IP, employment, JVs and other partnering or collaboration models, procurement, corporate governance and finance.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Track record of dealing with complex matters with multiple stakeholders.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, negotiation and collaboration skills.
- Creative problem solver with a demonstrated ability to tailor communication style to diverse audiences
