Alecto Recruitment are working with a leading Building Services contractor based in Hemel Hempstead, who are now looking to appoint a Mechanical & Electrical Maintenance Manager.

As Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible for managing the in-house engineering team and third-party contractors, who deliver planned preventative (PPM) and emergency reactive maintenance across the portfolio.

The role involves developing the engineering team's practices to ensure compliance with legislation, value for money, and meeting user expectations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Prioritising workloads, ensuring accurate maintenance data recording, maintaining all assets.
  • Acting as the Authorised/Responsible Person for various systems following training and certification.
  • Manage the operational maintenance team to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant maintenance of all building services.
  • Provide technical support and direction to the maintenance team and external contractors.
  • Collaborate with the Operations Manager to ensure optimal performance of engineering plants across all sites.
  • Complete quotations and ensure invoicing is always up to date

Essential Knowledge/Skills and Experience:

  • Extensive, proven track record in a similar role within M&E Maintenance Management.
  • Ideally someone who has worked in engineering positions previously and worked their way up.
  • Detailed knowledge of the working practices and demands of complex public and/or listed buildings.
  • Strong budgetary control and project management skills.
  • Ability to react quickly, reliably, and resiliently under pressure, and to adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Flexible and adaptable thinking and approach, with the ability to plan and manage change.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, in clear English, with the ability to listen, negotiate, and assert when necessary.
  • Strong people management skills to ensure team competency and support through training and coaching.
