Our client, a leader in maritime defence and submarine solutions, is seeking a highly qualified Principal Engineer - Systems Engineering to join their team on a contract basis. This role involves contributing expert knowledge to support the design, build, and through-life support programmes for submarine systems and products.

• Providing subject matter expertise and advice to support project delivery and performance
• Understanding and reporting engineering programme status, identifying issues, and implementing recovery plans
• Leading and developing systems engineering activities such as integration, architecting, and qualification design
• Ensuring compliance with maritime legislation, industry, and defence standards
• Delivering technical requirements and solutions in line with company and programme processes
• Managing design documentation and change requirements
• Ensuring adherence to engineering Lifecycle Management (LCM) for all deliverables and reviews
• Providing specialist technical input and support beyond immediate project scope

• Experience in Systems Engineering
• Proven expertise in Systems Engineering within the maritime sector
• Understanding of customer needs and how they impact design and performance
• Knowledge of industry and defence standards and relevant maritime legislation
• Familiarity with major developments in Systems Engineering across industry and academia
• Strong problem-solving abilities and capability to manage change embodiment activities
• Excellent communication and leadership skills
• Commitment to safety and high-quality standards in all engineering activities
