Job Title: Night Security Manager

Location: Sheffield, UK

Hours: 42.5 hours per week (Two-shift pattern: 5 on 2 off / 4 on 3 off)
Shifts: 10:00 PM - 7:00 AM
Salary: £35,000 - £37,000 per annum
Contract: Permanent

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Night Security Manager to oversee the safety and security operations of six student accommodation properties in Sheffield. This permanent role involves managing a team of approximately 10 security personnel across multiple sites. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in team leadership, with a particular emphasis on fostering collaboration, accountability, and performance excellence within the team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, motivate, and manage a team of approximately 10 night security officers, ensuring high levels of engagement, accountability, and morale.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews, provide ongoing feedback, and implement development plans to enhance team effectiveness.
  • Act as a mentor and role model, promoting a positive and professional work environment.
  • Ensure that all team members adhere to company policies and procedures, and take corrective action when necessary.

Operational Oversight:

  • Oversee the security operations across six student accommodation properties, ensuring the safety and well-being of all residents.
  • Develop and implement site-specific security protocols and procedures in collaboration with the day team.
  • Ensure seamless communication and coordination between shifts, ensuring consistent coverage and attention to detail.

Incident Management & Reporting:

  • Respond promptly to security incidents, ensuring that all incidents are managed efficiently and effectively.
  • Prepare detailed incident reports and maintain accurate records of all security-related activities.
  • Liaise with emergency services when required and coordinate responses to emergencies.

Communication & Collaboration:

  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with the wider management team, providing regular updates on security operations.
  • Work closely with other departments, including maintenance and housekeeping, to ensure a cohesive approach to property management.
  • Foster strong relationships with residents, addressing their concerns and ensuring a safe living environment.

Compliance & Continuous Improvement:

  • Ensure that all security operations comply with relevant legislation and company policies.
  • Continuously assess and improve security protocols, adapting to changing circumstances and feedback from residents and staff.

Driving & Site Visits:

  • Regularly visit all six properties, conducting inspections and ensuring that security measures are in place and effective.
  • A valid driving license is essential, as the role requires travel between multiple sites within Sheffield.

Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience in a leadership role within a security or related environment.
  • Strong people management skills, with a focus on team development, performance management, and conflict resolution.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and make sound decisions in challenging situations.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and delegate tasks effectively.
  • A valid UK driving license is essential for this role.
