To support the Service Engineering Team with a high level of technical competence on Fire Detection, Voice Alarm, and Gas Suppression Systems. The role is to support the service engineering team and assist the Tech Spec Team leader in growing and developing the engineering team by leading by example

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform fault finding with a high level of competence, aiming for first-time fixes whenever possible.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and service on fire detection, voice alarm, and gas suppression systems.
  • Undertake complex fault finding on system software, field devices, and cabling.
  • Provide technical support to service engineers in the field.
  • Participate in a 24/7 escalation phone support rotation and attend sites as needed to rectify system failures.
  • Promote the importance of maintaining critical site stock of spares to clients.
  • Undertaking System Condition surveys and producing reports
  • Completing Cause & Effect testing and recording results
  • Carrying out software back-ups of sites and storage of the software
  • Demonstrate leadership and a role model approach by leading by example within the engineering team.
  • Support the team to ensure high levels of customer service and engineering capability
  • Providing detailed reports, paperwork and following all procures and guidance from your line manager.

Required Qualifications

  • Proven experience in fire system engineering.
  • Commissioning grade trained on at least one major life safety product.
  • A proactive and can-do attitude with a willingness to share experience and knowledge to help develop team members.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong fault-finding capability.
  • Expertise in servicing fire detection, voice alarm, and gas suppression systems.
  • Ability to perform complex fault finding on system software, field devices, and cabling.
  • Excellent technical support skills for field service engineers.
  • Leadership and team player mentality.
  • Strong customer service focus.

Other Requirements

  • Availability to provide 24/7 escalation support and attend sites as needed.
  • Willingness to travel within London and the South East as required.
  • Willingness to work in central London and during unsociable hours, including nights and weekends, when required.
