Apple Recruitment are recruiting for a Data Analyst – Band 6 on behalf of the BSO Legal Services.

Job Purpose:

The post holder will provide a range of information and data analytics to the BSO Transformation Manager and the DLS Senior Management Team. The post holder will play a key role in providing a range of essential business information services to the Strategic Transformation Project within the Directorate of Legal Services.

The post holder will take responsibility for the development and delivery of data and information to inform the Transformation Project and enable the DLS Senior Management team to make informed decisions in relation to services and organisational change. The post holder will support the development and use of complex reporting solutions through the provision of information services.

Job Description:

· Lead on process, quality assurance and validation initiatives; the development and implementation of innovative solutions in line with developing business needs.

· Use judgement and experience to promote and encourage data quality improvement throughout DLS and to advise on data capture and data collection issues.

· Design, development and modification of reporting-related solutions.

· Analyse and produce coherent information and data to inform DLS Senior Management decision making in relation to potential funding models.

· Undertake database analysis, including problem solving using advanced functions and complex methodology.

· Ensure that all relevant systems and processes are documented to the appropriate level and that the documentation is maintained and up-to-date.

· Maintain and develop, as appropriate, the delivery of information and datasets in line with Service Level Agreements with customers or as deemed appropriate by management.

· In support of the Transformation Programme – develop and establish systems and processes in the following specific work streams:-

Time recording – which will enable the accurate recording of the use of staff time throughout the Directorate,

Capacity assessment – which will enable the building and use of a model which will help determine capacity in each specialist area of law and for each customer across the organisation.

Demand estimation – which will enable the building and use of a model to help estimate client demand in each specialist area of law over the agreed time horizons.

Client use of services – which will enable the building and use of a model to monitor the use of services in each specialist area against the specified activity levels in Service Level Agreement (SLAs).

Service level agreements/KPIs – analyse relevant information including time recording, capacity assessment and demand to assist the DLS SLT to develop suitable KPIs for inclusion in SLAs, provision of monitoring information for clients and inclusion in the staff performance management system.

Capability assessment – which will enable the building of a model to assess the gap in the knowledge and skills base of DLS against that which is required to satisfy the current and predicted demand in the most cost effective way, to inform DLS SLT decision making in relation to resourcing and organisation structure.

· Lead on the design, implementation, development and support of complex information and reporting solutions in support of the DLS Transformation programme

· Participating in and undertaking appropriate tasks within the DLS Transformation Programme, reporting on progress as required.

· Participating in the planning and scheduling of the implementation of agreed work streams to meet programme milestones and deadlines.

· Contributing to the preparation and delivery of business cases as required.

· Collaborate with and support the DLS Case Management system project team and BSO ITS as required.

· Participate in the DLS’s Staff Development and Performance Review Scheme. Provide guidance on personal development requirements and advise on and initiate, where appropriate, further training.

· Take such action as may be necessary in disciplinary matters in accordance with procedures laid down by the BSO/DLS.

· Lead by example in practicing the highest standards of conduct in accordance with the code of conduct for HSC managers.

· To take responsibility for his/her own performance and take action to address identified personal development areas.

· To lead by example to ensure that DLS demonstrates commitment through DLS culture and actions, for all aspects of diversity in the population it serves and the staff who provide the services.

  1. A University degree or equivalent recognised qualification in a computer science discipline or a degree with a substantial computing/data management element

· Duration: Fixed term until end of March 2025 (with the possibility of extension).
