One of the country's leading new home builders are looking for an Adoptions Engineer to work in the North Midlands office. Based in their offices in Derbyshire this is a great opportunity to join a well respected company offering an excellent team environment .

Adoptions Engineer – North Midlands

Key Purpose of Role:

The main aim in this role is to ensure that all the Estate Completion infrastructure works are carried out within a pre-set budget. This will enable the release of the company’s bonds and maintenance liabilities for all highways, sewers, Pumping Stations and public open spaces in order to obtain public adoption by the respective authority.

Key Duties / Responsibilities:

Check in association with the legal team all legal agreements including section agreements, deed of easements, utility provision (in conjunction with Services Engineer)

Attend and actively participate in all pre-Start meetings, monthly site meetings and other meetings as required to review and assess progress and provide constructive and frequent feedback on project performance.

Appointment of contractors when required for small works, monitor progress, inspect works and ensure completion of work to agreed Local Authority Standards.

Site inspections of the condition of infrastructure at end of maintenance period and specify all works required to achieve public adoption (incl management companies).

Monitor all adoption agreements (Section 38, 104, & 278 Agreements) ensuring reduction and cancellation of all the associated bonds.

Ensure all water authority Sud’s and drainage agreements are entered into in a timely manner.

Liaising with the Local Authority, Inspectors, Clerk of Works, Bondsman and company Solicitors and Management Companies.

Resolve all issues arising from completed sites ensuring all titles deeds, maintenance bonds and other legal requirements are complied with to minimise liability to the company.

Monitor expenditure to keep within budget allocation.

Provide Engineering support to Engineering Managers and Contract Managers.

Produce monthly Estate Completions reports and budget forecasts for the regional board of directors.

Brief and commission road safety audits, ROSPA reports, GI’s and as built surveys.

Review engineering designs to ensure cost effectiveness and buildability.

Obtain, log and monitor contractors geotechnical testing and material records.

Arrange and chair on site Pre-start meetings with inspectors for sewers and highways. ·

Undertake periodic inspection of new infrastructure works as works progress and write progress reports. ·

Chair and minute monthly internal adoption meetings.

Arrange utility inspection meetings prior to surfacing.

Work closely with Contract Managers to ensure surfacing and completion works are kept tight up to build.

Complete and monitor surfacing schedule.

Ensure familiarity with  the company Health, Safety and Environmental policies and comply with employee responsibilities.

At all times comply with company policies, procedures and instructions.

Continue to seek improvement to the HR service provided and efficiency by implementing new ideas and methods and continue to seek ways of both improving contribution to the organisation’s goals and enhancing the reputation of the company.

Skills/Personal Specification:

OND/HND qualification (or similar in building). Studies/Construction/Engineering or equivalent.

Good level of IT literacy with experience of AutoCAD, Outlook, Excel and Word (desirable).

A demonstrable track record in residential. Development/contracting Knowledge & experience of Constructing Roads & Sewers.

Knowledge of specific design and specification features with regards to road and sewers.

Knowledge of utility companies, procedures, license and legislating framework.

Understanding of CDM Regulations, LABC/NHBC requirements and Codes of Practice

Good communication and negotiation skills.

Problem solving / delegation.

Ability to work both in a team and independently under supervision.

Analytical and critical thinking.

Proficiency in Mathematics.

A high degree of self-motivation and drive.
