Heat Pump Design Engineer
Monday to Friday 8:00am - 4:00pm
Salary £45,000 - £65,000 (COMPETITIVE SALARY)
Based in NUNEATON

The Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for the design of heat pump systems, including ground loop and mechanical design for residential, commercial, and industrial projects. This role involves conducting site assessments, designing heat pump systems, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.

DAY TO DAY DUTIES:

1. System Design:
- Develop detailed designs and specifications for GSHP systems. (training Provided where needed)
- Calculate heating and cooling loads for various types of buildings.
- Select appropriate heat pump units and components

2. Project Management:
- Coordinate with project managers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure timely and efficient project design information
- Prepare cost estimates and drawings as required

3. Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure all designs comply with relevant local, state, and federal regulations.
- Obtain necessary permits and approvals for system installation.

4. Technical Support and Troubleshooting:
- Provide technical support during installation, commissioning, and maintenance phases.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise during system operation.

5. Documentation and Reporting:
- Prepare detailed engineering reports and documentation for each project.
- Maintain accurate records of design calculations, specifications, and test results.


ABOUT YOU:
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.

- Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in the design of commercial mechanical heating systems.

- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and GSHP-specific simulation tools.
- Strong understanding of HVAC systems and thermal dynamics.
- Familiarity with industry standards such as ASHRAE, IGSHPA, and local building codes.

- Soft Skills:
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- Certifications:
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.
- IGSHPA Certified Geothermal Installer is a plus.

Work Environment:
- Office environment with occasional site visits.
- May require travel to project locations.
