Health and Safety Admin Apprentice

Balfour Beatty VINCI is proud to be designing and building a 90KM stretch of the West Midlands section of HS2. We currently have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Health and Safety Admin Apprentice within the Health and Safety team.

This role will be based on site in Coleshill. Our head office is based located within an excellent location easily accessible via the M6 and M42. The office is also accessible via rail, we offer employees a shuttle bus transfer to our office from Birmingham international.

Role Description:

  • Working as a Health & Safety Admin Apprentice, you will provide administrative support to the wider Health & Safety team by collating monthly reports, ensuring documentation is communicated across the project, and recording incidents using the incident management system.

Accountabilities

  • Working with the Health, Safety and Environmental teams in developing Health, Safety and Wellbeing and Environmental campaigns.
  • Supporting the team in gathering data for month end reports.
  • Recording incidents using the project incident management system and chasing any close out actions.
  • Raising requisition requests for Health, Safety and Environment teams on the project.
  • Helping support and organise Health, Safety & Environmental meetings, visits and events.
  • Ensuring Health & Safety documentation is communicated across the project.
  • Logging Health, Safety & Environment toolbox talks and observation.

Apprenticeship Details:

  • Apprenticeship Standard: Business Administrator Level 3.
  • Apprenticeship Length: 18 months (this does not include EPA period).

Entry Requirements:

  • Maths, English Grades 9-4/A-C or equivalent.

Balfour Beatty VINCI have been awarded a 90km section of the HS2 project from Long Itchington in Warwickshire to the centre of Birmingham and on to Handsacre in Staffordshire. Overall, we will be building the following across all our sites:

  • 42 viaducts totalling over 11km
  • 66 overbridges
  • More than 35 cuttings reaching over 30km
  • 56 culverts
  • 66 embankments reaching over 33km
  • Building four motorway crossings requiring box structures
  • Six interfaces with the existing rail requiring both dive-under and overbridge structures

  • Working with the team developing the Health & Safety Management System.
  • Ensuring all Health & Safety documentation is communicated to all BBV shared areas and online project filing systems.
  • Demonstrating a personal commitment to Health, Safety and Wellbeing.
  • Assisting the team to develop Health, Safety and Wellbeing campaigns.
  • Supporting the team in gathering data for month end reports.
  • Recording incidents using the project incident management system and chasing any close out actions.
  • Co-ordinating and supporting with Health surveillance and fir for role medicals.
  • Helping support and organise Health & Safety meetings, events and VIP visits.

Skills/Experience:

  • Strong IT skills in Microsoft Office, particularly in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Forms and SharePoint.
  • Strong communication skills, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Organised approach to work using, standardised processes templates and frameworks.
  • Excellent written skills including spelling and grammar are essential.
  • Full valid UK driving license—various travel across sites.
