Principal Electronics Hardware Engineer

Are you an experienced Electronics Engineer with a passion for leading high-performing teams? We're looking for a talented individual to head up the development of electronic hardware for cutting-edge video and imaging processing products used in challenging environments. This is a unique opportunity to work with a team of motivated engineers on innovative solutions that make a tangible impact.

As the Principal Electronics Hardware Engineer, you will provide technical leadership and direction for all hardware development activities within our Wokingham-based team. You'll collaborate closely with other engineering disciplines and production teams to deliver multidisciplinary projects, ensuring they meet or exceed customer expectations. Your role will also involve contributing to product roadmaps, mentoring team members, and continuously improving the team's efficiency and productivity.

Key Responsibilities of the Principal Electronics Hardware Engineer:

  • Lead and oversee hardware development activities within the team.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • Stay informed about emerging technologies and incorporate them into product development.
  • Support the professional development of the team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Provide accurate time estimates for project development activities in collaboration with project managers and sales teams.

Skills & Experience Required of the Principal Electronics Hardware Engineer:

  • Degree in Electronics Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Extensive experience in a senior electronics design role, including analogue and digital circuits and high-performance processors.
  • Strong people management skills and experience in the full lifecycle of product development.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and a methodical approach to work.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience in the Defence sector or similar industries (e.g., scientific equipment, special-purpose machinery, high-end customisation).
  • Knowledge of analogue and digital video, FPGA development, PCB design, and EMC best practices.
