An exceptional design, development and manufacturing business in the Thame area are seeking to add an additional Technical Buyer.  You will join their growing team due to company growth and the requirement for extra resources.

The Buyer will work within defined purchasing processes and strategies to positively impact inter-company purchasing, direct production materials and indirect products and services.

Working as a team, the purchasing function will be responsible for the management of approximately £50 million spend.

This role provides the opportunity for up to three days per week working remotely once embedded within the business. 

The Technical Buyer Role:

• Procurement of components and materials required for production or development needs, considering optimum cost, quality and delivery.
• Sourcing and selection of support services.
• Working with suppliers to develop relationships and resolve any operational issues as part of a wider team.
• Continually increase awareness of company products and developments.
• Support the new product development process, ensuring optimal product costing and initiate cost-effective contract agreements.
• Identification of and implementation of cost reduction initiatives.
• Participate in forecasting, budgeting and departmental performance meetings as appropriate.

The Successful candidate:

• You have demonstrable experience within a procurement role within a manufacturing or engineering business.
• Your previous purchasing experience should have given you a broad knowledge of products and services.
• Confident negotiator, strong communicator, happy to work in an open office environment with strong characters.
• Willingness to travel, no more than 10% of your role.  This is likely primarily UK but will also include some international destinations.
• Any purchasing qualifications would be advantageous, as would those within supply chain, logistics management or Engineering.
