• £23,400 per annum (£12 per hour)

Operating from our secure Manchester site on New Smithfield Market, EMERGE Recycling has over 25 years of experience supplying waste management and recycling services. We promote sustainable resource management by offering advice, information, and education services within the wider community.

Touch Wood is a shop specialising in waste wood, timber reuse, and upcycling. We rescue waste wood collected by our sister social enterprise, EMERGE Recycling, and repurpose it for re-sale and reuse in our workshop, where it is turned into beautiful upcycled timber products.

About the role:

In this role, you will be a frontline representative of EMERGE, responsible for collecting waste and recyclable materials from businesses. This multi-faceted role involves driving vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes, handling various materials, and ensuring the secure and efficient collection of waste, including confidential information.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collect reusable and recyclable waste from customers’ premises and distribute bags, containers, and related information to customers
• Safeguard the vehicle and any crew members during collections
• Securely return all collected materials to the depot
• Assist in sorting and preparing waste electrical equipment for collection
• Operate machinery as authorised, following strict safety protocols
• Keep vehicles clean and report any issues
• Complete daily paperwork, including vehicle checks
• Provide excellent customer service and promote our recycling services
• Adhere to all Health and Safety regulations and company policies

Essential Skills and Experience:

• Experience driving commercial vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes
• Ability to lift up to 25kg and handle various materials
• Good communication skills, both verbal and written
• Valid driver’s license (clean is preferred, all points must be declared)
• Willingness to undertake relevant training and security checks
• Familiarity with Greater Manchester roads and Sat Nav technology

Desirable Skills:

• Experience in waste management or handling waste electrical equipment
• Forklift license and/or CSCS card for wood collection
• Digi Taco card
