Steel Operative

A Steel Operative / Overhead Crane Operator / Material Handler is required for a steel processing company based in the Dudley area of the West Midlands. The company is performing really well and it is an exciting time to join a growing business within the industry.
This position is working on a temp to perm basis - with a permanent contract awarded after a probationary period.
Duties include:
- Banding, packing and palletising stock
- Operating an overhead crane to handle steel
- Driving a counterbalance FLT
- Assisting with loading / offloading steel on machine lines
This position is working mornings and afternoons rotating;
6am - 2pm Mon-Fri / 2pm - 12am Mon-Thur
Paying £11.67 per hour.
When work levels pick up, they move onto a longer days / nights shift pattern (which they are working now), as below;
6:00am - 5:00pm (6:00am - 2:00pm Friday) days - 52 hours per week
6:00pm - 6:00am (Monday to Thursday) nights - 48 hours per week
The rate of pay is £11.67 on days (40 hours) and £14.00 on nights (and overtime over 40 hours on days).
To be considered you have to be flexible to work both the longer and shorter shift patterns. Higher rates are available for those with slitting experience.
