Our client is recruiting a Sous Chef to join an established nursery in Tooting! They are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, reliable, and hard working to provide healthy and nutritious meals for children aged from babies to five years old. This is a permanent role, working Monday to Friday 09:00am-5pm. The nursery is based in a very convenient location within proximity to Tooting station.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Supporting the overall running of the kitchen on a day-to-day basis.
  • Preparing and cooking for up to 250 children per day.
  • Following procedures to ensure that allergies, intolerances and preferences are taken into consideration for all children.
  • Maintain the hygiene standards in the kitchen, ensuring the daily and weekly cleaning duties are complete.
  • Ensuring all the Food Safety documents are updated daily.
  • Follow procedures relating to COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health). Ensure cleaning materials are stored safely and records are kept up to date.
  • Ordering of food on a weekly basis.
  • Training of new staff in the kitchen as we grow and have more children.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Experience of working in a Nursery or School kitchen is essential.
  • Food Hygiene Level 2 Certificate is essential.
  • NVQ Level 1 and 2 Chef training is essential.
  • Hard-working, good time management skills and can work well on their own and as part of a team.
  • Ability to multi-task and work under pressure. 

We take safeguarding very seriously and a current and clean Disclosure Barring Services (DBS) Certificate is essential.
