Morgan McKinley is partnering with a rapidly growing infrastructure provider that also operates a dynamic SME business. Our client is seeking a motivated and proactive Finance Manager to join their team and oversee financial management and reporting for long-term projects and the broader finance function. Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, the Finance Manager will assist with managing the financial aspects of the Group's long-term projects, the monthly financial close process, and driving control improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Finance Function Management: Under the Group Financial Controller's guidance, you will take ownership of the entire finance function managing end-to-end financial processes, reconciliations, ledger management, and implementing robust financial controls.
  • Financial Management & Reporting: Oversee and maintain project accounting systems for long-term infrastructure projects, ensuring accurate financial reporting. Prepare and manage financial reports, including balance sheet reconciliations, and support the monthly financial close process.
  • Business Partnering: Collaborate with multiple departments, including Operations and Senior Leadership, to gain a comprehensive understanding of project delivery and profitability. Provide financial insights to drive strategic decision-making.
  • Process Improvement: Lead post-project reviews to identify variances and areas for future improvement. Drive continuous development and refinement of financial processes, ensuring systems are up-to-date and accurate.
  • System Improvement Initiatives: Work closely with the finance team to support the improvement of financial systems and controls, enhancing the accuracy of business forecasts and financial models.

Candidate Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of project accounting principles, including accrued and deferred revenue, with hands-on experience in maintaining ledgers, posting journals, and conducting balance sheet reconciliations. Strong proficiency in Sage software, along with advanced technical accounting skills, is essential. The candidate should possess excellent organisational abilities and be capable of communicating effectively with stakeholders at all levels, both internally and externally. A self-starter with a proactive approach to identifying opportunities for process improvement and adding value to the business, the candidate should be eager to make a significant impact in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, contributing to team development and system improvement initiatives.
